SY The Junk

June Hong Chian Lee built in Penang , Malaysia in 1962 and was originally used for used for charcoal transportation, plying the coastline of Burma and Malaysia before starting similan islands liveboard trips. Ending her trading service in 1985 she was first restored and redesigned to be used as a classic sailing yacht. This proud vessel was almost completely rebuilt in 1999 and is now fully fitted out to be a luxurious and classic dive vessel. She is a 30 meter long, 140-ton three masted junk with 330 square meters of sails, and classic beauty.

The June Hong is constructed mainly from a hard teak wood called Takien Tong . Extremely strong, the wood is used for the three masts that rise 23 meters above the deck, 28 meters above sea level, the trees cut for the masts date back over 300 years.

Deluxe Cabin

Saloon area

The Junk, as she is locally known, has 2 types of cabins with the private doubles and the 4 berth shared cabins. Both types are en-suite and fully air conditioned with individual air con units.

The large upper desk space with tanks down either side on the gunwale allow each diver ample space to kit up for their dives. The diving from the Junk is done by dinghy, with 2 dinghy's on standby at all time to ferry the divers back and forth from dive site to mother ship and your home for the duration of your journey.
